Pedro De La Cruz

Pedro De La Cruz, born on March 21st, 1992, in Cleburne, TX, is a multi-talented visual artist and storyteller currently living in Durant, OK. Raised in a small town just southwest of Ft. Worth by a single mother alongside two younger siblings, Pedro's journey into the world of artistry began at a young age.
Immersing himself in various artistic disciplines, Pedro found his creative voice through music, performing with rock and metal groups during his Baccalaureate and University Studies. Despite showcasing early interest in acting, it was Pedro's unwavering passion for photography, cinematography, and filmmaking that would become the driving force behind his artistic pursuits.
Initially drawn to screenwriting, Pedro enrolled at the University of North Texas, majoring in Media Arts. Taking a hiatus from formal education to delve into independent film practice, he returned to his studies with a double major in Political Science, focusing on rhetoric and environmental issues. Pedro recognized the power of visualization as a potent tool for informing marginalized groups, solidifying his commitment to capturing compelling images that inspire hope and drive positive change.
Graduating in 2017 with honors, Pedro's dedication to his craft and philanthropic causes was evident, earning him a place on the Dean's and President's lists and membership in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. His journey took a turn during the pandemic of 2020 when freelancing opportunities were halted. Fortunately, a network connection led him to a role as a Digital Media producer for a Public Adjusting Firm, focusing on social media content creation and branding.
Currently, Pedro serves as a multimedia videographer for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, contributing his skills to give a voice to those whose stories might otherwise go unheard. His ambitions extend beyond his current role, aspiring to be an in-field camera operator for a major news source, a cinematographer for both narrative and documentary films, and ultimately a contributor for National Geographic. Pedro's dream is to establish his production studio dedicated to crafting powerful narratives that shed light on critical social issues.
In a significant milestone, Pedro has been accepted into the American Society of Cinematographers Vision Mentorship Program '23/'24, where he receives guidance from some of the foremost creative minds in American filmmaking. This achievement is a testament to his dedication and talent, marking a pivotal moment in his artistic journey.
Driven by a personal story of perseverance through hardship, Pedro's narrative is one of resilience and triumph. With an ultimate goal of creating work that compels positive change on a global scale, he aims to share his own story to inspire others who may feel lost or on the verge of giving up. Pedro De La Cruz is not just a cinematographer; he is a visual artist and storyteller whose work transcends mediums, weaving together narratives that resonate with the human experience.
